Projects Abroad Human Rights Office – Cape Town, South Africa – Monthly Reports
Rapport mensuel à partir de 2010 (en anglais)
It has been a quiet month for PAHRO as the numbers of volunteers decreased and the Christmas and New Year period caused many businesses and schools that we work with to be closed. This meant that many of our social outreach programmes have been unable to operate throughout December.
Bonnytoun – For the past month PAHRO has been continuing to formalise a partnership with Young in Prison, meeting multiple times in an attempt to develop a program. The children detained at Bonnytoun receive little information about their upcoming trials and this is an area that volunteers wish to focus on improving.
Bonnytoun – A place of safety for boys aged 12-18 who are pre-trial, awaiting trial or have been sentenced. For the past month PAHRO has been formalising its partnership with Young in Prison (YiP).
Bonnytoun – A place of safety for boys aged 12-18 who are awaiting trial. This month volunteers have been focusing on the 'citizenship challenge' which includes discussing citizens and citizenship, society and good life and crime and punishment.
Bonnytoun – A place of safety for boys aged 12-18 who are awaiting trial. Volunteers have been visiting Bonnytoun twice a week, teaching the boys about their human rights, this month focusing on 'life after Bonnytoun', drug abuse and HIV/AIDS.
