As a Dentistry intern in India, you have the chance to engage with highly qualified dentists who are dedicated to providing quality oral healthcare to their patients.
As an intern you will be exposed to a wide variety of dental care in India through shadowing and observing the dentists and other dental staff at the clinic where you will be placed. By showing your enthusiasm and by becoming a valuable member of the dental team, you may be given more to do. Common procedures include root canal treatment, bridges and crowns, fixed orthodontic treatment, implants, minor surgeries, cast or removable partial frames, and fixed partial dentures.
Interning Abroad as a Dentist in India with Projects Abroad
Dentistry interns work in Jaipur. English is also widely spoken. However, not all people will understand English unless they are well educated and have good communication skills. The conversation between the patient and dentist will almost always be in Hindi. Your supervising dentist will explain everything to you in English, and will, wherever possible, discuss case histories and treatments with you at the time of consultation.
As a Projects Abroad Dentistry intern you may also have the opportunity to take part in periodic dental outreach work. One clinic conducts outreach camps in schools and interns are encouraged to take part in these.
Most interns in India stay with local host families in Jaipur. Your host family will show you true Indian hospitality and make you feel welcome. You can spend your free time exploring the area with our diverse Projects Abroad volunteer community.
Dentistry internships in India are available for shorter periods than 4 weeks. While you will be able to gain valuable medical experience on a short-term trip, we recommend staying for a longer period to allow yourself more time to get to know the local medical system, see more of a variety of conditions and procedures, and develop stronger relationships with local medical staff.
