Projects Abroad intern at the Occupational Therapy Project in Vietnam helps a child with disabilities eat lunch.

As an Occupational Therapy intern in Vietnam with Projects Abroad, you could provide vital assistance to the many patients who do not have access to basic treatment. Your time as an Occupational Therapy intern in Vietnam will be a challenging but rewarding experience and you will be helping many people by improving the quality of their lives through focused therapy.

If you are a student training to become an occupational therapist, you will provide crucial support to the staff, children, and/or adults at rehabilitation centres. You will also gain important work experience that is difficult to get in North America, enhancing your resume.

All Medicine & Healthcare interns in Vietnam must have completed at least two years of pre-medical or other healthcare related studies by the time they join this project.

Interning Abroad as an Occupational Therapist in Vietnam with Projects Abroad

Occupational Therapy interns work at rehabilitation centres, which care for disabled children and adults who suffer from the legacy of the Vietnam War and other causes. These centres offer therapeutic and practical help, as well as providing educational training and medical care.

You will work alongside one of the local staff and depending on your experience you may be given groups of children or adults to work with independently. You may even be asked to work with your own individual patients and could spend some time passing on your skills to fellow staff.

You can read more detailed information about the aims of the project in our Vietnam Medicine & Healthcare Management Plan.

Whichever project you join, you will go home safe in the knowledge that you have made a lasting contribution to the placement and the people it serves.

The location of your placement will determine what kind of accommodation you will stay in. You will be able to explore the stunning region around you with the other volunteers in your time off.

Occupational Therapy internships in Vietnam are available for shorter periods than 4 weeks. While you will be able to gain valuable medical experience on a short-term trip, we recommend staying for a longer period to allow yourself more time to get to know the local medical system, see more of a variety of conditions and procedures, and develop stronger relationships with local medical staff.

If you have qualifications or experience in this field then we can make use of your skills volunteering abroad as a professional in Vietnam.
