What has happened to GVI (Global Vision International)?
In July 2026, GVI ceased operations and announced that they’ll enter a formal liquidation process. Its programs have been cancelled, leaving many participants with disrupted plans and, in some cases, flights they have already booked.
For official information about payments, refunds and the liquidation process, affected customers should follow the guidance issued by GVI and the appointed insolvency professionals.
Projects Abroad cannot advise on claims against GVI, but we may be able to help you salvage your travel plans by arranging a suitable alternative program.
A reliable alternative to GVI
If you were due to travel with GVI in 2026 or 2027, we may be able to help at short notice.
Projects Abroad offer fully supported conservation and community programs in many of the same destinations as GVI did, with flexible start dates and last-minute availability on selected projects.
Speak directly to one of our Project Experts, who will give you clear and honest advice about your available options.
If you’re travelling as an individual, our Project Experts can help you:
- Look for a program in your original destination
- Find a similar conservation or community project
- Work around flights you have already booked
- Explore alternative start dates or program durations
- Complete the application and pre-departure process quickly
- Understand exactly what support and supervision are provided
If you’re leading a group, our Partnerships Managers can help you:
- Create a tailored itinerary that reflects your original program in the same, or similar, destination
- Provide comprehensive safety documentation and approval-ready proposals
- Support you with suggested communications for parents and leadership
- Provide pre-departure briefing for your staff and students
We cannot guarantee that every original program can be replicated, but we will do everything reasonably possible to find an appropriate alternative.
