Where we are based in Belize
You’ll do volunteer work in Belize in either San Pedro or Placencia. Most of our projects are based in San Pedro. Our Conservation Projects are based in Placencia.
San Pedro
San Pedro is a small town on the largest island off the coast of Belize, Ambergris Caye. This town is home to about 15,000 people, many of whom travel around the town using golf carts or motorbikes. So you’re sure to see lots of these during your trip.
You’ll be living and working in local communities close to the beach. There’s plenty to do here during your free time. With idyllic beaches and the brightly coloured Belize Barrier Reef, you can spend a lot of your time on the shore and in the waves.
San Pedro is home to beautiful art galleries and museums. After your volunteer work each day, you can visit these sights and learn more about local history and culture.
Placencia
Our Diving & Marine Conservation Projects are based in Placencia, a peninsular along the southern coast of Belize ideal for connecting with nature. Placencia has a very small population of around 3,500.
You’ll live and work along the coast and in protected marine reserves, often surrounded by white-sand beaches and clear cobalt waters. This is the perfect opportunity to explore the beauty of the ocean.
This area is also rich in Mayan history. Visit sites like the Mayflower Archaeological Reserve to learn more about the country’s history. You can even spend your free time kayaking through Placencia Lagoon, diving around mangrove forests in clear blue Caribbean waters. See if you can spot some manatees and rays in the waters.
