Tailored Group International Volunteer Opportunities with Projects Abroad

Overview

Projects Abroad has been specializing in arranging volunteer placements in the developing world since it was founded in 1992. Over the last few decades, we have sent over 100,000 volunteers from around the world to hundreds of different projects across 30 destinations and volunteering as part of a group has grown dramatically during that time.

Our overseas tailor made trips are suitable for groups from all areas of society: college students on a summer break, students from a class or university department, sports teams, work colleagues, art groups, girl guides, or even a group of friends looking for a truly original volunteering experience!

Projects Abroad can offer groups of five or more volunteers the option to custom-design a placement to suit their goals and interests. These programs can range in length from a couple of weeks to several months, depending on the time you have available and visa requirements in the destination country.

It’s no secret that many of life’s important lessons take place outside of the classroom. That’s why a Projects Abroad group trip can be the perfect program to complement your school curriculum and provide your students with a meaningful and educational experience unlike any other.

A group trip is a unique opportunity for students to experience the lifestyle and culture of a developing country, whilst giving back to the local community in a sustainable and worthwhile way.

Through practical, first-hand experience, students will learn the value of teamwork, leadership, communication and cultural appreciation. Students step outside of their comfort zone and leave with a deeper understanding of themselves, each other and the world around them. A group experience can create a strong bond among peers and offer valuable insight into different career paths.

Volunteering alongside their peers, students will learn how to live and work as a team and witness first-hand the difference that a small group of people can make.

An overseas volunteering trip allows students to:

  • Experience working in a diverse team environment, with local staff as well as fellow students
  • Experience cultural immersion in an environment vastly different to their home country
  • Learn to be innovative whilst working in places with limited resources, be it educational or medical.
  • Gain insight into problems that affect developing countries
  • Understand the value of giving your time to help others
  • Develop leadership skills, resourcefulness and creativity through daily challenges.
  • Develop team building skills working alongside fellow volunteers
  • Take part in a unique team bonding experience that will benefit the group long after their return

An overseas volunteering trip allows teachers or managers to:

  • Have an incredible overseas experience
  • Work with students or employees in a different setting and develop stronger relationships as a result
  • Witness your students gain invaluable skills and develop new attitudes during the trip
  • Make the most of an opportunity to lead by example, all working together on the project and demonstrating altruism and compassion
  • Develop their own leadership skills in organizing a trip and leading their colleagues in the lead-up to and during the trip

We take all the pressure off of you by organising a safe, rewarding and enjoyable trip. We can provide you with all the necessary risk assessments for our trips, saving you time and avoid being overwhelmed in paperwork

A group volunteering trip can benefit the school or company by:

  • Establishing lasting relationships with organisations in developing countries
  • Building a legacy of positive action in developing communities
  • Developing a global outlook and understanding among students and employees
  • Developing a socially conscious and proactive student body or employee culture
  • Supporting underprivileged communities in a structured and worthwhile way
  • Open the door for future group service experiences, at home and abroad
