Assist with general health screenings at a local school under the guidance of medical professionals and collaborate with your group to plan and deliver a dental hygiene awareness campaign. You will also visit a nutritional rehabilitation home to observe the specialised care provided to mothers and children suffering from malnutrition.Â
Cultural discoveries
Beyond your medical training, you’ll get the opportunity to explore Nepal’s stunning landscapes and traditions for a full cultural immersion. From a thrilling jungle safari in Chitwan National Park and hiking to the historic Moulakali temple to participating in a traditional momo-making cooking class, exploring ancient palaces in Kathmandu, and visiting the iconic “Monkey Temple”, you’ll gain a deep appreciation of the country’s history and culture.
By the end of the program, you’ll leave with new medical knowledge, lasting friendships, and a greater awareness of the healthcare and community challenges in Nepal.
Why choose Nepal for your Medicine & Healthcare program?
Nepal offers a unique opportunity to experience healthcare in a global setting. By working alongside local medical professionals, you’ll gain meaningful insight into the realities of global health delivery, from the busy wards of city hospitals to community-led programs raising awareness on dental hygiene and tackling malnutrition. It’s a chance for students aspiring to have a medical career to see how medical services adapt in resource-limited settings and observe a variety of approaches to care that you simply wouldn’t encounter at home.
Throughout your placement, you’ll be supported by our dedicated Projects Abroad medical team. They provide expert on-site guidance and mentorship, helping to bridge the gap between your group and the local medical staff, and ensuring your clinical learning is both structured and impactful.
Choosing Nepal allows you to step into a world of new experiences, balancing your clinical work with a deep dive into the country’s rich cultural heritage, from the ancient temples of Kathmandu to the wild landscapes of Chitwan. You’ll return home with practical skills, lifelong memories, and a much broader perspective on what it means to make a real difference in global healthcare.
