PROJECTS ABROAD AND SHERMANSTRAVEL.COM WILL AWARD LUCKY FACEBOOK FAN WITH VOLUNTEER VACATION
Projects Abroad Celebrates the Holidays by Giving Away a Two-Week Trip
NEW YORK – December 7, 2010 – In true holiday spirit, Projects Abroad is giving a gift that gives back, with a contest designed to make a difference in the lives of others. The contest, hosted on the ShermansTravel Facebook page, invites users to upload a one-minute video explaining why they should be chosen to take a trip with Projects Abroad. If this Facebook page builds its fan base to 5,000 by Jan. 15, 2011, the contestant with the winning video will be awarded one of Projects Abroad’s two-week volunteer trips. The contest will be judged by ShermansTravel.com, sponsor of the trip. All entries must be received by Dec.12, 2010.
ShermansTravel.com and Projects Abroad welcome Facebook users to create all types of wacky and inventive videos – the more creative the better. The one-minute video should explain why the featured contestant is the perfect person to embark on an overseas trip with Projects Abroad. The contestant with the best video will be chosen on Dec. 17, 2010.
“We’re very excited to partner with ShermansTravel.com for the opportunity to give away a volunteer trip this holiday season,” said Thomas Pastorius Jr., vice president of Projects Abroad. “The contest is a great opportunity for one deserving volunteer to take a life-changing, impactful volunteer trip in a developing country. It really is a gift that keeps giving.”
Candidates must be a fan of the ShermansTravel Facebook page and at least 18 years of age. The volunteer trip will take place during a two week span beginning between Jan. 15 or April 1, 2011 so volunteers should be available to travel during that time range. Details, terms and conditions can be found at www.facebook.com/shermanstravel. About Projects Abroad
Projects Abroad was founded in 1992 by Dr. Peter Slowe, a geography professor, as a program for students to travel and work while on break from full-time study. The program had its genesis in post-USSR Romania, where students were given the chance to teach conversational English. After a few years just sending volunteers to Eastern Europe for teaching, the company expanded to sending volunteers of all ages around the world on a wide range of projects.
Projects Abroad is a global leader in short-term international volunteer programs with projects in 25 countries and recruitment offices in the UK, Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Holland, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden and the United States.
