If you want to get your hands dirty and see physical results from a short volunteering experience abroad, our building project may be right for you. Based in Cape Town, you will join a group and help construct buildings for homes and care centres within the local communities we work in throughout the year.

A teenage Projects Abroad volunteer helps dig the foundation for a new building in a township in Cape Town, South Africa.

This project enables you to play a key role in the building of new and better quality facilities, making the care homes and early learning centres more comfortable and safer places. Daily activities include digging foundations, mixing and pouring cement, roofing, or putting the finishing coat of paint on a completed building.

During your time abroad in Cape Town, you will live with a local host family, which gives you a unique insight into this fascinating country.

Over the weekend, you'll go on a trip with the other volunteers and our local staff to the famous Table Mountain and Cape Point National Park.

This project is also available as a 4-week program on select dates. If you stay longer you will be able to spend more time at your placement and see more tangible results from your efforts. We will also organize additional visits and activities for your group during extra weekends, such as visiting Robben Island or a local market and doing a Peninsula or Township Tour.
