Projects Abroad volunteers joining the Agriculture & Farming project in Argentina can choose between two worthwhile placements in Cordoba and Villa Rumipal. When you apply, please let us know which option you would like to participate in.

All volunteers receive training at the project, so no farming or gardening experience is needed, making this project a great fit for all ages. Whether you are a gap year student, a career breaker, or simply looking for a meaningful experience on vacation, you will be able to make a difference by contributing to sustainable development on the Agriculture & Farming project.

Community Farming at a Care Centre in Cordoba

Community Farming in Argentina with Projects Abroad

This placement is ideal for volunteers who have a passion for farming and gardening and who want to immerse themselves in the local community. You will be based in Cordoba at one of our Care placements, where you will be able to work and socialize with local staff, as well as spend time with the children.

As a volunteer, you will assist with:

  • Planting new seeds
  • Building and fencing enclosures
  • Creating a display area for seeds and herbs
  • Harvesting and selling the vegetables to local people

In addition to these tasks, volunteers will also get the chance to arrange workshops to help educate local people about the advantages of growing their own vegetables and how to get started and /or have a day visit to farms or local markets (depending on the weather). With the help of our volunteers, we are hoping to expand to new sites in the future.

Your contribution to the project will depend on the time of the year, as well as the needs of the project at that time.

Organic and Sustainable Farming in Villa Rumipal

At this placement, you will be able to learn about organic farming practices while making a positive impact in the community.

At the organic farm site, you will be involved in a variety of tasks, including:

  • The organic farming process
  • The sustainable use of resources
  • Crop rotation and pest control
  • Types of compost and the decomposition process
  • Health management of rabbits
  • Production of free range eggs

Currently, the project does not receive any support from the government and as a result, some of the vegetables grown in the garden are sold to the locals for a small amount of money. By participating on this project, you will also be contributing to its sustainability.

This project is available for less than a month if you don't have time to join us for a month or more. This project has been selected by our local colleagues as being suitable for shorter durations for both the host community and the volunteer. Although you will gain valuable cultural insight and work intensely within the local community please be aware that you may not be able to make the same impact as someone participating for a longer period.
