Trip highlights

  • Survey wildlife populations – Conduct surveys, collect research data on elephants and birds, and monitor animal movements, aiding conservation efforts in the reserve.
  • Live in the wilderness – Experience life in an eco-lodge camp nestled in a wild nature reserve, in an area with one of the highest densities of elephants in Southern Africa.
  • Discover South African culture and history – Enjoy a day in the fascinating city of Johannesburg, visiting iconic historical sites and learning about apartheid history.
  • Participate in anti-poaching patrols – Remove snares, protect wildlife from illegal hunting, and contribute to reducing poaching activities alongside local conservationists.

What you can expect

You’ll be based in an eco-lodge camp in the heart of Botswana's Tuli Block, surrounded by rich wildlife - elephants, leopards, giraffes, zebras, leopards, hyenas, and more may pass right by camp. Each morning, you’ll venture into the bush to engage in meaningful conservation work: constructing waterholes and dams to support wildlife through the dry season, conducting surveys on elephants and bird populations, setting up camera traps, and participating in anti-poaching patrols to remove snares and protect animal movements.

Under the guidance of local conservationists, you’ll learn practical field research skills - from species identification and data collection to habitat monitoring. These experiences bridge the gap between theory and real-world practice, offering insight into ecosystem management and wildlife protection strategies.

Evenings at camp are a chance to reflect, relax around the campfire and enjoy gazing at the expansive African sky. By the end of your stay, you’ll not only leave with lasting memories of the wild but also with practical conservation skills, a deeper environmental awareness, and the confidence to discuss the importance of safeguarding ecosystems.
