Physiotherapy Placements Abroad

Gain international physiotherapy work experience in a country with limited resources.

Through a Projects Abroad Physiotherapy Internship, you can gain international work experience and develop your own skills in an under-resourced country. You’ll broaden your understanding of global physiotherapy practices and learn about local healthcare issues.

You’ll be placed in hospital physiotherapy departments or specialized clinics. You can also work in daycare centers for children, the elderly, or those with special needs. You’ll shadow trained local professionals and get to observe conditions you might not encounter back home.

After completing a Physiotherapy Internship with Projects Abroad, you can add international experience to your resume. This will give all your future applications a boost. An internship will also help you to prepare for your future physiotherapy career by giving you new knowledge and first-hand observational experience.

Is a Physiotherapy placement abroad right for me?

Are you considering a career in physiotherapy? Maybe you’re currently studying but want to add practical experience to your learning. Or, maybe you’ve recently graduated and are looking for a new career challenge. Our international Physiotherapy Internships are suited to a wide range of skill levels. So you could be just starting out or have previous experience.

Many of our interns don’t have previous experience in their chosen field, so you can start at a level you’re comfortable with. Projects Abroad staff will be there to support you throughout your time abroad, and there will also be healthcare professionals working with to guide your work.

Our Physiotherapy work experience placements are fantastic for boosting your resume and job or study applications. They’ll also give you a lot to talk about in upcoming interviews.

If you’re currently a student, we also offer Physiotherapy Electives. For those interested in a related field, you can take a look at our Occupational Therapy options. Read our full list of projects for internships abroad.

What are the benefits of a Physiotherapy placement abroad?

Our Physiotherapy Internships provide you with the relevant skills and experience to prepare you for the next stage of your studies or career. These international internships also give you a unique talking point during interviews.

Here are just some of the benefits of these internships:

  • Experience with diseases and conditions less common in your home country
  • Skills like teamwork, communication, leadership, resilience, organizing, planning, and time management
  • An in-depth work experience you might not be able to receive in your home country
  • Developing a global mindset from working and empathizing with people from different cultures and backgrounds
  • Confidence from challenging yourself outside of your comfort zone

These benefits will enhance your resume, strengthening your future applications, and help you develop personally.

Why does this internship matter?

This experience will bring you closer to a future working in your chosen field. We’re proud to support future talent who will bring vital skills to communities in need.

What sets Projects Abroad’s Physiotherapy Internships apart?

At Projects Abroad, our first aim is to benefit the communities we work in. Our internships are ethical and well supported. Here are some factors that set us apart:

We record our work in a secure database

We have a Global Impact Database to track the positive impact of our projects. It’s secure and anonymous and we use it to identify specific areas of need. The data we record helps us shape aspects of our work, like medical outreaches and health awareness campaigns. We also use it to monitor the progress of individuals, report our results and collect data for research. All this work follows our Management Plans.

Real work with trained professionals

As an intern, you’ll work alongside real healthcare professionals. You can observe them in their everyday work, ask questions and hear more about their experiences. You’re likely to get greater exposure to the frontline of medical care than in your home country.

A tailored approach

We are often able to tailor your internship to suit your interests. You can work in more than one department or focus on one particular area, and experience outreach work in the local community.

Our Medicine & Healthcare policy

We take the safety of our volunteers, interns, and the people they work with very seriously. That’s why we’ve put in place a comprehensive Medical Ethics Policy.
